Weekly email
Wowowowow!!! It has been an eventful week that
is for sure. Leaving the MTC was hard, I had so much love for everyone there!
But we are all where we need to be and all of the Hermanas are going to be
amazing missionaries. Our mission president and wife are amazing, I immediately
felt so much love from them. President Dayton is very musical and he has
written so many songs for the "el faro" mission. We also have
"dignified" language and we are not allowed to say a lot of words
that are a regular part of my vocabulary like; "awesome" and
"cool" haha! It is going to be a struggle because I just never even
realized when I would even say those words but I’m slowly cutting them out of
my vocabulary.
Well, being out in the field is incredible! I
have thought about it so much but you literally can't imagine how it is going
to be. My trainer is Hermana Black and she is exactly what I prayed for; someone
who would push me and have patience with my Spanish and someone who could
handle my weirdness. Haha! She's great and I'm excited to keep learning from
her! Now for the Spanish... it is a struggle and I can get the general idea of
what people are talking about but speaking I feel like I barely make any sense.
But I have been working so hard and praying so hard and I know that God will
consecrate my efforts.
So, I'll tell you all about my first
appointment and my first Sunday out in the field…
In our first appointment, I wasn't too nervous
going in because I knew my companion, Hermana Black would help me out. Wow!
that appointment was amazing. Our investigator (Florin) liked to talk so I
couldn't follow a lot of the conversation but my companion said exactly what he
needed to hear, we didn't follow the lesson plan at all but I knew the spirit
was guiding us the whole time. I tried to teach some of the lesson in Spanish
and it was the biggest struggle but it was amazing because afterward he said
that he felt something. It was really comforting to hear that because I know
there are going to be 100 more lessons where I struggle and no one understands
what I say but the spirit will touch their hearts and will testify to
them.
Now, the first Sunday! So much Spanish (haha!)
my brain was hurting. But! The members are amazing! They were so willing to
help me and work with me! They had me bear my testimony in sacrament meeting!
Everyone looked so confused when I was talking but it's good to practice! We
also went to a member’s home for dinner and they all spoke English which was really
nice! The members are great and I know I'm going to love it here, I already
do!
Love you all!
