ON FIRE 4/25

Hello family and friends!!! Wow what a week, let me tell you, God is merciful. We have seen so many amazing miracles I don't even know where to start. So our investigator Flora, (we've been teaching her for a about a month now) has been progressing greatly, we have talked to her about baptism. We set a fecha (date) but she was unsure and wanted to wait a while, so we invited her to think about a date and pray to know if it's what she should do. Well, we met with her last Friday and we had a member come with us. The members name is Karen, she's from Peru, so she speaks Spanish but she was raised in Utah. Wow, what a blessing it was to have her there. We only talked about the fact of the importance of scripture study and prayer and the spirit was so strong. The next Monday we met with Flora again and she said she felt she was ready to get baptized, so we set the fecha for May 5th! We are so excited to teach her about temples now and get her excited about the next step.
Next miracle we saw, last Thursday we contacted a man on the street, his name is Luis and he's from Colombia. Well he was very excited when we contacted him and invited us to teach him then and there. We taught him the Book of Mormon and in this lesson he told us he had been attending another Christian church but he felt that it wasn't enough, that there was something more. He had been praying for a month to be able to find the right church and we were put in his path. He loved church on Sunday, he loved the organization and the messages. We taught him the restoration and he loved it. He also has a fecha (baptism date) for May 5 and he told us he's going to pray everyday so he can be firm in his decision.
Next miracle we saw!! About a week and a half ago we contacted a man named Nestor in the street and we set a visit with him for a week later. Well we met with him and he immediately started telling us a dream he had that was very similar to Lehis vision of the tree of life. We read with him right then and there 1 Nephi 8 and he started to cry. He told us he knows God is calling him and he needs to find the right way in his life.
What amazing miracles we have seen! I have loved witnessing the Lords hand in the work.
Well I was reading in the New Testament this week and I read in Acts 8:26-40. It is talking about missionary work. Philip follows spiritual prompting time and time again without any second guesses and he is able to be an instrument in the Lord’s hand in the work of the Lord. I loved reading this story as I was thinking about the talk by our prophet, "Revelation for the church, revelation for our lives." It is so important to be able to learn how to receive and act on spiritual promptings. If we obtain this skill we will be effective tools in His hands.
Love you all,

"BE YOU" 4/18

April 18
Well family and friends another week flew by here in Spain Barcelona! Well just a little update on what's been going on here, last week we had a little zone enfoque (conference) and we got together as a zone to talk about our zone vision and it's all about “BE YOU”. And I loved that, being yourself in this work is key. When you come here, your world is completely changed around you and your understanding of yourself. For me, I just felt like I was not myself, I didn't even know who I was exactly or who I wanted to be. As time has gone on, God has put people and experiences in my life to help me figure out not who I want to be but who HE wants me to be. And as I have been really finding and using those gifts that He has given me in the work I have found so much joy. Last Friday we had interviews with President and Hermana Dayton. They are two of the most incredible people I have ever met, and I love every minute I get to be around them, especially one on one. They have so much life, advice and it amazes me how they can help to build someone up and yet still strive to do better in just a quick 15 minutes. They are truly so Christ-like.
Well I'll be honest, I have been feeling a bit discouraged the past few days. We have had a few investigators drop us and people who just don't want to progress. It has not been easy and it's a bit frustrating at times. But as I was reading in the new testament this week I found a scripture that gave me the exact comfort I needed.
Acts 5:41-42
41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
These Scriptures are talking about the Apostles Peter and John. They were arrested and not treated well for preaching about Christ. After this experience they very well could have given up. But they REJOICED that they could suffer in His name, and they continued to teach. How grateful I am to be here and to be rejected by countless people in the streets, and in their homes, for my Savior, Jesus Christ.
So funny story, I bought a metal water bottle to carry around with me and as I was casually strolling down the busy streets I accidently nailed my water bottle against a dog's head.. The owner got real mad and I felt SO bad. Hahaha I just sat there for a solid two minutes apologizing to the women for hitting her dog with my water bottle.
Well so much more has happened and I wish I could tell you all in one email! I'll send pictures to sum some other stuff up!
Love you all!

New Companion 4/11

April 11
Hello family and friends!!! How have you all been!? So you're all probably wondering who's my companion... Drum roll please. Hermana Demars!!! She's amazing, she's from Montana (all my companions have been from Idaho or Montana) and she is just full of life and so much excitement for the work, it has been a blessing to have her as my companion. We are honestly already so close, I love it! So this week has been full of adventures, it's flown by!
So some updates on investigators, Anna, our 87 year old investigator sent us a text saying she didn't want to visit with us for a while. That was a bit heart stabbing because she was such a miracle. But, it's just not her time right now and we can spend our time finding other prepared people!
And our other investigator, Flora, she is just the biggest miracle ever. We came to church on Sunday and the ward just completely loved her and made her feel right at home. We met with her yesterday and she said she just loved it and she is wanting to raise her family in the church. She told us her boyfriend is less active but is returning back to the church and it is absolutely incredible to see. She had a fecha (date) but we met with her yesterday and it's a bit up in the air right now because she wants to wait until her boyfriend comes to Spain in May. So we will meet with her tomorrow and discuss it a little more!
And our other family we our teaching, they were baptized in another church and we met with them a few days ago and pretty much had to just convince them that their baptism is not valid. They had quite a few questions and we left them answering all of them, but they were still doubtful about the priesthood authority. We left them with the invitation to read the book of mormón and ask to know if its true because that is going to be the way they understand that the priesthood power was restored to the earth. It was a great lesson, now it's in the hands of them to really know if it's true. It was so cute though, they have a 9 year old daughter who had read the children's book of mormón and had written questions for us. It was an absolute miracle.
So we have quite a bit going on here, it's just miracle after miracle. I love being a missionary!

Training!! 4/3

April 3

Wow what a week. As of yesterday I said bye to my companion Hermana Price. It was a bitter sweet moment; I love that Hermana with all my heart. She has changed my mission and my life completely and she is going to do amazing things in life. I'm so excited for her. And now I'm going to be getting a new companion. I don't know who she is yet, I find out tomorrow because she's new to the mission so she will be arriving tomorrow. I'm super excited to meet her. This transfer is going to be a transfer of so many miracles, we have already seen so many and I know that as we work hard, and are obedient God will bless us.

So an update on this week. It has been crazy, between visiting my companion’s old areas, her last interview with President and Hermana Dayton, getting her packed and ready, I feel like we have not had much time to work in our area, so I'm excited to get to work. I have to tell you all about a miracle we saw this week. We had a reference sent to us from Salt Lake City of a women from Peru. We have been trying to get in contact with her and last week we finally did. She is so prepared and has family who are members. She has a new born baby and wants to raise her family in the gospel. She came to general conference this week and wants to continue coming to church.

And now general conference. Wow it was absolutely incredible. The greatest things I got out of it was the importance of our prophet. In one of the talks they invited us to go through and read President Nelson's talks and really pray to know if he is a prophet of God. I loved this invitation, we can all believe that he is a prophet but we all need our own personal testimony that he is the prophet of God. I am going to follow through with this invitation so that I can gain this testimony of President Nelson. Another thing that I loved was from the Sunday morning session of President Nelson. He told us how important it is to learn to receive personal revelation and inspiration, it shows just how necessary it is to learn to rely on the Holy Ghost and act on it because it is going to be so essential in this day in age.

Love you all,
Hermana Bangerter
