Hi family and friends!
First, I know you're all wondering about my new companion..
Well.... drum roll please... she's amazing! We get along really really well and
she's such a great missionary and I'm very grateful for her.
So, something terrifying happened the other night; we opened our
window a little bit because our piso (apartment) was so hot and it was cool
outside. It was only open a crack right, no big deal. WELL, in the middle of
the night, I woke up and there was a MAN looking through our window!!!! (don't
worry there are bars on the window so he couldn't get in) but still, he was
looking in our window and just making all sorts of noises and I'm pretty sure
he was drunk and it scared me sooooo bad. Both my companion and I got up
and he ran away. Lesson learned… never sleep with the window open!! EVER!!!
Something I've been thinking about the past couple of days…as
missionaries, we can choose to let the mission shape us into the person we need
to be. I came into the mission with this mindset, but I was unsure of how I
could allow this and I have been getting frustrated feeling like I'm not enough
and I'm not working hard enough. But I have realized that our Heavenly
Father knows our potential, he knows what we need to go through and learn and
experience in order to become the servant and person he NEEDS us to be. I have
learned that you can grow as you completely rely on Him. There are moments when
I feel like I can't do it, I feel inadequate. But I pray and I turn over my
problems to Him and I stand up and go to work. As we do this, day to day…we
will be shaped into the person he needs us to be.
I have also realized that I just love the people here! The
members are all so incredible and so willing to work with us as well as help us
out. I have so much love for the recent converts and investigators that we are
working with. I have found that the more I love them, the more I want to serve
them and help them. Christ-like love is real, I pray that I can have this love
every day so I can help everyone here and find those who need the gospel!
Well, to answer your question; the weather is cooling down quite
a bit here. I've been starting to get kind of cold, which is great because I've
been so hot. Fall is definitely here.
